The skilful right midfielder, who was released by Crystal Palace after 3 years as a scholar, has signed a one-year contract. He turned down an offer from Romanian club FC Arges Dacia.
He was recommended to Bobby Gould by the club's new football co-ordinator David Burnside. Dobson said "I decided to sign for Cheltenham rather than take up other offers I recieved because the prospect of working under Bobby Gould really appealed to me."
"I can't wait to get going at Cheltenham now, and really believe that I have a good chance of being involved in the the first team."
"It's a shame the club were relegated from the second division, and I hope I can help get them promotion next season."
