Twelve-goal leading scorer Thomas penned a 12-month contract back in the summer and Robins boss Mark Yates is desperate to extend his stay in Gloucestershire and see the soon-to-be 24-year-old pen a new deal.
But Thomas is evidently faced with an extremely difficult family decision to make. He told the Gloucestershire Echo: "I would like to stay, I`ve only had one season here so far. Mark Yates has given me the chance to play full-time football and there`s no point me going somewhere and not playing full-time.
"But I`ve got a kid on the way soon and I`ve got to make the right decision for him and my girlfriend. It`s hard because she`s from London as well and she wants to stay as close to there as possible but we`re just going to have to wait and see what happens.
"I`ve said I`ll stay here until the end of the season but if I didn`t have a kid on the way then I would have signed a contract in December, but I`ve got other things to think about other than just me now. It`s got nothing to do with the (financial) offer, it`s convincing my girlfriend, really."
Asked whether it is likely a breakthrough will be made by the end of January, Thomas pondered before replying: "No."
