High-flying QPR were held to a draw by bottom of the table Cheltenham Town in this thriller at Whaddon Road.
There was goalmouth action throughout the game and a controversial incident 12 minutes from time when QPR defender Clarke Carlisle was sent off, allegedly for spitting at Cheltenham striker Julian Alsop.
Cheltenham belied their lowly status and produced some forceful attacking football, hitting the woodwork twice as well as scoring a 64th minute equaliser through Martin Devaney.
Rangers had taken an 11th minute lead when on-loan Arsenal midfielder Jerome Thomas collected a loose ball on the edge of the box and directed a superb curling shot beyond goalkeeper Steve Book.
Cheltenham hit back and a shot from Devaney was blocked by Richard Langley before QPR keeper Simon Royce flew to make a fine fingertip save from John Finnigan.
Langley brushed the post with a rasping shot from the edge of the box at the start of the second period, but as the half wore on Cheltenham slowly built up the pressure that resulted in their equalising goal.
Grant McCann, who had hit the post with a free kick in the first half, then hit the bar with a set piece effort from a similar position.
Julian Alsop then fired a shot straight at Royce but the equaliser finally arrived in the 64th minute.
McCann combined with Paul Brayson down the left and the Northern Ireland international's low cross was touched in by Devaney at the near post.
Substitute Tony Naylor almost won the game for Cheltenham seven minutes from time when Finnigan sent him clear but Royce made another fine save.
"It was a good performance against one of the best teams in the league and we have to try and build on that now," said Cheltenham manager Graham Allner.
"I was very pleased with the application of the players and I thought the very least we deserved was a draw."
Rangers boss Ian Holloway said: "I'm as annoyed as at any time since I've been manager here. We were fortunate to even get a point."
